Hey, that’s me! The guy who’s name is at the top of the site.
You can find the career timeline over on LinkedIn. Here’s some stuff about me, and how I like to show up to work.
At home:
I’m French Canadian, and I’ve been living in Ontario for 20 years.
I’ve been doing design and research for about a decade, working at both startups as a solo designer, at scale-ups as a manager, and at larger companies like Shopify.
When the COVID-19 hit, I moved out of Ottawa and over to a small city I used to visit in the summer as a kid — Brockville. Life feels slower here, and I appreciate that. Being from Montreal, also also feel drawn to the St. Lawrence river, so having it a few minutes away feels nostalgic.
I moved into a very old house. After five years of major renovations and gardening, I’ve developed a big appreciation for working with my hands. I never thought I’d be building a laundry room and bathroom on my own. And I definitely didn’t think I’d be working with a table saw (though they still scare me!).
At work:
I prefer to give and receive regular updates asynchronously. Anything at risk though, I’ll likely as for an in-person follow-up to discuss.
I consider myself a generalist. I have more depth in interaction design, management, strategy, project management, qualitative research, and data analysis. I lean on others to use their taste when creating a design system’s visual approach.
I prefer to save the some time every day to pair with and mentor other designers on the team.
I’m generally a slow thinker, and may not give an answer right away if there’s a decision to make in a meeting. I’ll always give a timeline for giving an answer.
I get excited when I don’t know the answer and crave to figure things out.
